Fedora instalation logbook-media

Mixer

Prvotni je mixer:
For line Record, line volume level 90, microphone level 0, -q printout, -v main volume... make:
aumix -q -m 0 -l R -l 90 -1 0 -q

Festival - speech synthesis

install with yum festival
to interactively input a text ... text2wave -o w.wav
batch conversion .... cat w.txt | text2wave -scale 5.5 -o w.wav; mplayer w.wav

Audio editor

The best I've found is audacity. yum install audacity
(no input of mp3 - need to recompile..??...)
Mention Ctrl-B - label track enables to mark cuts and afterwards to make a multiple export of the cuts - independently of the cut's names.

MIDI

hard to find something reasonable - rosengarden...
with yum you can install a timidity player.

Mplayer

Really good thing.
Some mencoder tips can be useful.

To install on redhat7.3:
rpm -Uvh lame-libs-3.95.1-1.i386.rpm
rpm -Uvh mplayer-1.0pre6-1.i386.rpm

Why this ? rpm -ivh --test libstdc++32-3.2.2-5.fdr.0.rh73.i386.rpm

To download from stream:
In mozilla - it offers sometimes something to download: e.g. audio_2.asx.
mplayer mms://www.t-music.cz/file/u/av/audio_2.asx
mplayer mms://www.t-music.cz/file/u/av/audio_2.asx -ao pcm
mplayer mms://www.t-music.cz/file/u/av/audio_2.asx -ao pcm -aofile hello.wav
and ofcourse lame helo.wav (for multiple conversion in one rush -make for X in *.wav ; do lame -h $X ; done in bash)
xine has some mms extension: http://geocities.com/majormms/
something about streaming recorders is at streaming-media.com

To make a fifo: mkfifo -m 660 stream.yuv
mplayer -cache 50 rtsp://ct1.server.streaming.visual.cz/ct/high1/UdalostiP040305.rm -ao pcm -vo yuv4mpeg
and atonce: mencoder stream.yuv -ovc lavc -o test.avi
to combine A-V: mencoder test.avi -audiofile audiodump.wav -oac mp3lame -ovc lavc -o test2.av

Codecs:
Mplayer can play realplayer files also - if you copy to /usr/local/lib/win32/ codecs from rp9codecs and rp9codecs-win32 from mplayer web. For mms:// one needs also windows-all codecs.

Streaming - CT1 internet broadcast is on address http://www.czech-tv.cz/vysilani/ and is hidden in something like rtsp://ct1.server.streaming.visual.cz/ct/Zpravy1600-260105.rm?start=00:00:54&end=00:25:56 which can be played by realplayer. It was found by chance - from error message of realplayer plugin.

TF1 france tv
mplayer -playlist http://s.tf1.fr/FluxJt/jt20d01062005/jt20d01062005.asx -cache 700 or
mplayer -playlist http://s.tf1.fr/FluxJt/jt20d01062005/jt20d01062005.rpm -cache 700 or

select the 20hjournal, player type and then wget the address of some image in play-menu. Find inside something like player1superplayer.addSrc or player1superplayer.play_initplayer and you will find the address.

something..
mplayer -cache 50 -playlist http://www.cnn.com/video/world/2002/01/21/jb.shoe.bomb.cafe.cnn.low.asx

I dont know whats mplayer -cache 50 mms://www.grama.it:9999

lot of examples is at http://geodisi.u-strasbg.fr/~daurat/radios.html (remember using -playlist option)

xmms

xmms has very nice mplayer extension, but - you must clear a mess in the mplayer plugins enabled in xmms. xmms-mp3 package is crucial - you must probably also enable plugin after instalation.
It is sensitive to sound daemos: KDE - artsd, GNOME - esd, alsa or oss, enable the correct daemon in plugins.

dvd::rip

This is a pain. web. yum install perl-Video-DVDRip
As before I needed to remove avidemux 2 - after that I had to
rpm -ivh /home/mrazek/faac-1.24-1.1.fc2.fr.i386.rpm
rpm -Uvh /scr/install/17_avi_wav-edit/avidemux2-2.0.36-2.1.fc2.rf.i386.rpm

At the end, when reading DVD content:
tcprobe -i /dev/dvd
problem: (dvd_reader.c) no support for DVD reading configured - exit.
(iodump.c) unable to open directory "/dev/dvd"

This is problem of transcode - not compiled with dvdread.
They say
transcode needs to be configured with DVD navigation support with libdvdread
- removed the transcode package
- downloaded and installed the libdvdread-devel package
- rebuilt the transcode package with 'rpmbuild -ta transcode-0.6.11.tar.gz'
- installed the new transcode package

dvdrip and transcode DELETED:
rpm -e --test perl-Video-DVDRip-0.50.18-0.lvn.2.2
rpm -e --test transcode-0.6.14-0.lvn.2.2

yum install libdvdread-devel

transcode recompilation :
rpmbuild -ta --define 'xflags --with-avifile-mods=no' transcode-0.6.11.tar.gz
doesnot work properly - some alsa library (.la) is missing in my Fedora2.
I looked for avifile-devel-0.7.41-7.rhfc2.at.i386.rpm, but no point.
rpm -ivh --force avifile-0.7.41-7.rhfc2.at.i386.rpm
rpm -ivh --force avifile-devel-0.7.41-7.rhfc2.at.i386.rpm
/usr/lib/libasound.la not present in fc2 alsa-lib-1.0.3a-2

found: alsa-devel-1.0.4-212rl.i586.rpm
... doesnot work

NO SUCCESS :( for dvd try dvd::rip http://www.exit1.org/dvdrip/

avidemux2

Superb program - needs some codecs and libraries...
rpm -ivh /home/mrazek/faac-1.24-1.1.fc2.fr.i386.rpm
rpm -Uvh /scr/install/17_avi_wav-edit/avidemux2-2.0.36-2.1.fc2.rf.i386.rpm
Important feature is the ability to process video via a script (e.g. in a batch): avidemux2 --load episode1.edl --video-process --save /tmp/episode1.avi --quit

k3b

Very nice CD/DVD - burning soft. But - needs to install k3b-mp3 to be really fine for CD.
Some problems with versions. Fedora2 + k3b ver.. ... DVD burn possible only by root.

yum install id3lib
yum upgrade k3b
yum install k3b-mp3

I dont remember if this helped....
tar -xvzf id3lib-3.8.3.tar.gz
cd id3lib-3.8.3
11 ls
12 ./configure
13 make
14 make install
rpm -ivh k3b-mp3-0.11.18-1.SML.i386.rpm
ln -s /usr/local/lib/libid3-3.8.so.3 /opt/kde/lib/libid3-3.8.so.3

Camera

look at camlist Nikon Coolpix 3700 seems to me a cheap reasonable selection (sound autoshutter, PTP gphoto2 mode, 3MPix)

Games ...

glchess

frontend for gnuchess
yum install gtkglarea
rpm -ivh glchess-0.4.7-1.1.fc2.dag.i386.rpm

foobiliard

biliard - it needed libGLcore.so.1; it was already present in /usr/lib
so rpm -ivh --nodeps /scr/tmp/foobiliard/foobillard-2.8-SDL.i586.rpm
